Following a look at its spring 2015 campaign and news of its Burberry collaboration, we have a detailed look at the Burberry XO Barneys New York capsule collection. British musician and Burberry muse George Barnett fronts the lookbook of exclusive pieces, now available at Barneys New York. Capturing the essence of the Burberry man, Barnett connects with Barneys for an interview. Talking about juggling music and fashion, Barnett shares, “Don’t compromise. When I first started modeling, people thought it was a bad idea that I was a musician and also modeling. Now, people don’t even bat an eyelash. Everyone is doing so much more at once and endorsing something. I always tried to keep my modeling and my music quite separate, actually. In my music career, I’m quite in control, and in modeling, I am not always. I suppose my work for Burberry is nice because it’s a bit more reflective of the person I am.”
On the subject of his personal style, Barnett confesses, “I am obsessed with jackets. I have 20-plus leather jackets, actually, and most of them look the same. I don’t want to sound like I’m fashion obsessed, but I have a huge archive of pieces. I have early Dior Homme, Helmut Lang, but mainly vintage. I especially love clothes from the ’20s and ’50s. I am really into construction of clothes and appreciate that sort of thing.”
