This past January, we reviewed Carin Wester’s fall 2009 collection and now with the release of the lookbook, it is time to take another gander. After a frilly feminine spring, it was surprising to see Wester take such a dark turn with her fall collection, but under the economic climate, not so much. Somber grays, blacks and rich purples are fitting of a moody fall, but Wester softens this image with a woman’s touch. Instantly, billowing high-waist trousers create the image of a modern gentleman who can maintain his demeanor, whether in a sharp tailored blazer or oversized top and knit. Although the end result is a collection that is more masculine than usual, Wester still manages to have fun by throwing in polka dots and the occasional ruffled collar or two. Also, not to go unnoticed is this season’s model, who in addition to being styled impeccably sports painted fingernails.
