The global jetsetter, Karl Lagerfeld traveled to Havana, Cuba for Chanel’s cruise 2016 runway show. The fashion house’s first show to be held in Latin America, Lagerfeld’s latest designs were unveiled at Paseo del Prado. The Chanel collection took inspiration from Cuban culture, seeking to evoke the nation’s golden era with a casual ease. Tailored cropped jackets, all-over car print separates, white button-down shirts and distressed denim jeans were brought together for the occasion.

Speaking at a prior cruise show in Seoul, Korea, Lagerfeld discussed his range of influences, sharing, “The spirit of these collections is to conjure up images of distant horizons. They are inspired by a theme or identity that is often associated with a new destination.” Lagerfeld continues, “There is nothing folky or nostalgic about it; the idea is to capture the ambiance of a place, to draw inspiration from its landscapes, to be influenced by its people, its light, its culture, its colors…”
