While makeup is a lucrative industry, not too many companies outside Tom Ford have courted men. That’s about to change with Chanel’s new men’s range named Boy de Chanel. The line launches with brow pencils, a matte lip balm, and a sheer tinted foundation.
As celebrity beauty brands continue to expand into new markets, Chanel has long embraced star power. The brand has featured icons like Brad Pitt for Chanel No. 5 and the late Gaspard Ulliel as the face of Bleu de Chanel. Chanel talks to WWD about the new range.
Chanel Men’s Makeup: Boy de Chanel

“Just as Gabrielle Chanel borrowed elements from the men’s wardrobe to dress women, Chanel draws inspiration from the women’s world to write the vocabulary of a new personal aesthetic for men.” The company continues, “Lines, colors, attitudes, gestures…There is no absolutely feminine or masculine prerequisite: Style alone defines the person we wish to be.”

Chanel shares, “By creating Boy de Chanel, its first makeup line for men, Chanel reaffirms the ever-changing codes of an unchanging vision: Beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style,” the company said.
The line launches first in South Korea on September 1, 2018, before debuting on Chanel.com between November and January.
