BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund Debuts–Winning the first BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund, designer Christopher Shannon, known for his sporty menswear designs, took home the honor with a £150,000 grant and year-long mentoring valued at £50,000. After taking a photo with the judges who chose him from a selection that included Richard Nicoll, Lou Dalton, Patrick Grant and Christopher Raeburn, Shannon exclaimed, “I did just win that, right? That was made. There were so many people pushing for that prize – and who pushed me to go for it – and I have always considered myself as somewhat anti-establishment, but now people have started recognizing my work for what it is. That’s really rewarding.” Shannon will be presenting his latest collection for spring/summer 2015 this Sunday during London Collections: Men.
