Balenciaga Mixes Tailoring & 90s Nostalgia for Fall ’18 Collection

The Fashionisto / Published March 5, 2018

Demna Gvasalia follows the progression of the Balenciaga man for fall-winter 2018. The designer revisits the design codes of Cristóbal Balenciaga and transitions into his own aesthetic for the fashion house. Set against a snowy winter landscape, Gvasalia braces his man for the cold. Body-hugging turtlenecks open up to jackets and coats that pinch at the waist. Meanwhile, the initial formality of the season gives way to Gvasalia’s nostalgic approach towards streetwear. Nineties vibes reign as the designer embraces a vintage-like attitude. It’s here that oversized shirt jackets join layers of tees, sweaters, hoodies, and parkas. For footwear, the Balenciaga man is treated to retro-style sneakers and classic leather dress shoes.
