Berluti Bridges Past & Present for Fall ’20 Collection

The Fashionisto / Published January 19, 2020

Kris Van Assche looks to meld past and present ideas for Berluti’s fall-winter 2020 collection. The Belgian designer imagines what the Maison’s century old-archives – entrenched in expert shoemaking – would look like had they encompassed tailoring. Sharp suits and tailored coats steal the spotlight for the season. The clean, elegant lines encompass a timeless approach to menswear, while Van Assche’s use of bright colors lends the range a contemporary appeal. In addition to vibrant statements on the catwalk, the patina leather suit makes another appearance as a new Berluti signature. Meanwhile, Van Assche introduces the Berluti Signature Canvas that features the fashion house’s new logo and the strokes of the iconic Scritto motif. Covering accessories like the leather Nino clutch, Van Assche explains, My idea was to design a printed canvas that would look as if it had always existed in the archives. He continues, This Signature Canvas creates a bridge between the past and the present.
