Dior Men Fall 2024: Masculine Grace, Couture Meets Ballet

The Fashionisto / Published January 22, 2024

For fall-winter 2024, Dior Men presents a collection that dances between the dualities of life, reflective of the public spectacle and private intimacy of a dancer’s existence. Artistic Director Kim Jones spins a narrative intertwining Rudolf Nureyev’s legacy with Dior’s craftsmanship.

The collection’s color palette is thoughtful, reflecting the muted and earthy tones found in a dancer’s wardrobe, accented with vibrant splashes reminiscent of theatrical costumes. Silhouettes merge the pragmatic with the poetic, as Jones brings to the runway an array of looks that speak to utility and luxury.

Each garment carries the weight of Dior’s history, with nods to Saint Laurent’s tailoring, visible in the precision of volume, vents, and necklines. The collection flirts with the simplicity of the ’60s and ’70s, seen in the single-breasted coats and flared trousers, while the zipped wool jumpsuits and ribbed knits ground the collection in modern practicality.

The debut of couture pieces for the collection is a tribute to Nureyev’s passion for antique collecting. Kimonos showcase the mastery of Japanese craftsmen, their elegance in stark contrast to the oversized, grained macrocannage bags.

Dior’s footwear is a contemporary ode to ballet, reimagining dancing slippers in San Crispino construction and updating the Mary Jane into a fresh sneaker silhouette. Rounding out the collection, Stephen Jones’ velvet hats, initially designed for Dior women in 1999, are reinterpreted for men, symbolizing a smart blend of grace and strength.
