Nearly a quarter of a century has passed since Dsquared2 claimed its star in the fashion world’s night sky, and they are still shining with its fall-winter 2020 men’s collection. The season’s theme offers a midwestern chic take on Dsquared2 classics. A neutral color palette grounds a selection of denim and colorful plaid prints. Meanwhile, the silhouette is anything but old school. There is a touch of rock-inspired style and showmanship, almost as if Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine came from Montana instead of California. Of particular interest is the cut of the trousers, which, though not genuinely skinny, is a lot more fitted than one would expect with a western motif. While several elements are relatively recognizable and seem like something most men already have in their closets somewhere, the devil is in the details. The collection’s charm rests in its expert cuts and finishes. Every surface is thoughtfully executed and decorated for the modern style aficionado without being distracting, and Dsquared2 has successfully married the smart to the casual.
