Ermenegildo Zegna explores the modern convergence of public and private life with its fall-winter 2021 collection. “We all are experiencing a new reality concerned with new needs, which lead us to previously unseen lifestyles and attitudes,” explains artistic director Alessandro Sartori. “It is precisely at a time like this, when everything is under discussion, that we, at Zegna, have decided to (Re)set.” The designer elaborates, “We have looked at our roots to (Re)interpret our style codes and (Re)tailor the modern man. Outdoor and indoor come together, and a new way of dressing takes hold, where comfort and style blend to create a new aesthetic.” At the heart of the season is a desire to dress down the formal aspects of menswear without losing love for the sartorial elements. Jersey fabrics are core to this idea. The new collection embraces a fluid attitude with relaxed and comfortable shapes. Elements from loungewear are borrowed and reinterpreted for the public space. For example, coats are wrapped like robes and knitwear cut to replace shirts. A monochromatic theme plays throughout Ermenegildo Zegna’s lineup as well, with neutral touches of gray, beige, white, and black.
