For spring-summer 2022, Ermenegildo Zegna introduces “The (New) Set Tuned to the Needs of Today.” The Italian fashion house continues a cycle of resets with its prior seasons, enriching the path to a clean slate. As a result, the present collection is a New Set for Ermenegildo Zegna.
“My aim at Zegna is to create an accord between the essence of tailoring, which is our reason for being, and the rhythm of the modern world,” says Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori.
“What I have done is a rewiring of luxury crafting, following a flow that frees the man while keeping the distinctiveness, offering pieces that are easy to wear as they are inventive. Effortlessness is the key.”
Sartori reinterprets Ermenegildo Zegna’s tailored nature, finding a new identity in relaxed shapes and imaginative texture making. The New Set acts as an opportunity for a period of adjustment. Therefore, fluid shapes mirror the intersection of style, body, and emotions.
The season takes shape around fluidity. Ermenegildo Zegna’s man moves from essential to the next, wearing everything from a long duster and errand coat to the modern overshirt or collarless kimono details. Weightlessness redefines a wardrobe, including woven textures and paper-slight calf skins.
