Versace and Fendi celebrate a first-of-its-kind collaboration for the season. Respective of their fashion houses, Donatella Versace and Kim Jones switch places to design their usual collections. Versace and Jones unveiled their efforts under the banner of Fendace.
For the new collections of Versace by Fendi and Fendi by Versace, the designers inspired each other’s visions. After all, the fashion experiment results from a “true creative dialogue that stems from respect and friendship.” Versace explains that “Fendace is about the need of sincerity in fashion today rather than strategy.”
The nineties served as a standard reference for both collections. Jones gravitated towards a dark and tailored collection with a use of Versace motifs like its signature Greek theme and juxtaposed it with the Fendi monogram. Meanwhile, Versace revisited the nineties with a youthful take on casual style, detailed with vibrant colors and a crystal-encrusted Fendi monogram.
