Filippa K Stirs Nostalgia For Scandinavian Summers

The Fashionisto / Published November 11, 2022

Filippa K brings forth its new spring-summer 2023 collection, noting the desire to recapture the essence and sensuality of the brand’s nineties designs. This season, Filippa K showcases a range that takes shape around the inspirations of individual and shared experiences. Traditional silhouettes benefit from relaxed cuts to convey a sense of ease. Meanwhile, the collection reflects Filippa K’s heritage tied to a nostalgia for Scandinavian summers.

“The starting point of the collection was to go back to Filippa K’s 90s beginnings, exploring the energy and emotions of those early days,” says Filippa K creative director Liisa Kessler. “By revisiting those garments, I rediscovered the timeless power they have to them. The feeling of comfort and the freedom of movement have always been at the core of the brand; it’s important to me to carry forward this heritage.” The designer adds, “I wanted the collection to feel easy to wear—light, fresh, uncomplicated, and effortless.”

While it’s tradition for brands to present a pre-collection before the official launch of the season, for spring-summer 2023, Filippa K introduced the two collections together to showcase the fluidity between the ranges. Furthermore, the season sees women’s active, leisure, and loungewear move to the mainline, where it launches for men for the first time.
