Designer Robert Geller launches his new label Gustav von Aschenbach for spring-summer 2018. The brand’s name comes from Thomas Mann’s novel Death in Venice, while the foray represents Geller’s efforts to reach a broader market. Here, an exploration of color and relaxed shapes come together. Spring sees a mix of red, concrete green, ochre, topaz, and black. The color palette brings to mind the paintings of Joseph Albers and works well with oversized, boxy, and rounded silhouettes. Reinforcing an ease in style, the lineup of shorts, cardigans, shirts, and wide-leg trousers feature the use of Japanese linens, washed cottons, linen blends, and cotton-nylon.
