Lanvin presents its fall-winter 2020 men’s collection entitled “Beach Birds.” The title references choreography by Merce Cunningham where each dancer performed to their tempo, like a flock of birds enjoying themselves on the seashore.
The idea is juxtaposed with varied inspirations such as Hugo Pratt’s comic book hero Corto Maltese and the 1970s skateboarders captured by photographer Hugh Holland in California. Lanvin creative director Bruno Sialelli embraces a relaxed silhouette and beach graphics for the season, successfully bridging the gap between tailored suits, oversized coats, sweater vests, and baggy pants. The most prominent statement from the collection arrives in “XXL skate shoes with super-wide laces.”
