Since the beginning of his tenure at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh has been fascinated with the idea of exploring childhood themes. For fall-winter 2021, Abloh continues this dialogue with a child’s thoughts of what they want to be when they grow up. These sentiments bring to mind the typical job roles and the style archetypes associated with each. Abloh extends this to his unique cast of characters for the season. Alongside representing aspects of himself and his parents, Abloh reintroduces us to the writer, artist, drifter, salesman, hotelier, gallery owner, and architect. The typical uniform is expanded and exaggerated for a lineup of looks that redefines the values attributed to familiar dress codes. This notion means re-energizing traditional menswear with a modern spirit for Louis Vuitton. Fun takeaways range from oversized tailored overcoats and padded vests to silk and cotton shirts.
