Zegna Moves Tailoring Forward for Summer ’23

The Fashionisto / Published June 21, 2022

For Zegna, its spring-summer 2023 collection is part of an ongoing narrative that begins with Oasi Zegna. Since its creator saw Oasi Zegna as a way to give back to the community, the Italian brand has placed a high value on it. At the same time, it stands for principles that promote harmony and consistency among humans, machines, and the natural world.

Alessandro Sartori, the artistic director of Zegna, has a vision for the future of tailoring that includes new shapes and materials and a new sartorial philosophy. “My work stems from a question: what’s next for tailoring? And for the needs of the lives of today?” Sartori explains, “The idea is to use our craftmanship as a progressive tool, keeping the finesse, the attention to detail, the respect of materials while experimenting with shapes that are light and materials, solutions and finishes that give these shapes a new technicality, to mostly building up a new silhouette where effortless and innovation create a new style for men.”

As part of Zegna’s quest to reinvent tailoring for the modern man, the brand’s spring-summer 2023 collection features new takes on classic silhouettes. “In doing so, we keep expanding and solidifying a distinctive language, the one of Zegna,” says Sartori. The season reflects a general feeling of lightness. The Zegna man embraces a chic wardrobe that combines ease of dressing, referencing everything from activewear to workwear.

Mesh, technical silk, wool, rubberized nylon, lacquered nappa, and more come together as Zegna unveils a season that feels personal and free–capturing the lightness of Oasi Zegna for the city dweller. Loose, unstructured shapes and barely-there clothing encompass must-haves like kimono-cut jackets, body-skimming coats, and oversized shirts. Furthermore, pants and Bermuda shorts are relaxed. Overall, Zegna delivers fluid, easy-to-wear silhouettes composed of layers of one color or a similar shade, which allows the wearer to move freely and stylishly.
