The Untidy–The organizers of the famed Met Gala were not the only ones to have punk on the mind as Comme des Garçons creative director Rei Kawakubo reclaimed the counterculture for her spring/summer 2014 collection. At the collection’s core were tailored pieces, encompassing jackets, trousers, shorts and skirts, but with patterns and a play with textiles, Kawakubo turned convention on its head. Appearing with cutaway jackets, deconstructed layers showcased elongated shirt hems and sleeves. Exploring wrinkled fabrics for an anti-smart appeal, the Comme des Garçons man was afforded a unique day in the spotlight.
