Swedish Attitude–Photographer Patrick Lindblom focuses his lens on the fall/winter 2013 collection of Swedish label Common, as seen on The New York Times Style Magazine’s blog. Teaming up with stylist Andrej Skok, Lindblom captures the brand’s winter offering, driving our attention to the modern elegance conceived by the brand’s designers, Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund. Getting inspired by a certain aesthetic and sense of style that recall the ’90s, the designers provide a selection of pieces, available in classic and basic plain colors, where minimal lines, simple layering and great cuts define an eye-catching, but updated minimalism. Exploring the concept of printed logo, which was a bold fashion statement in the ’90s, the designers create an abstract logo print, playing with the timeless duality between black and white. Usually, Swedish sense of style and fashion is conceived as minimal and essential, but with this winter collection, the brand proves a certain cosmopolitan attitude, without forgetting its Swedish roots, as shown by the sharp outerwear pieces, like the bomber jackets and the double-breasted coats, that have in common a strong urban appeal. / Original article written by David Hellqvist.
