Known for his dashing sartorial style, UFC star Conor McGregor makes a strong impression as he connects with Haute Time for a new feature. Discussing how his penchant for bespoke suits developed, McGregor shares, “My father used to say, ‘You know you’re successful when you have a custom-made suit.”

The mixed martial artist continues, “Before I came along, you’d see a UFC press conference and you’d see a guy wearing shorts and a baggy tee and a baseball cap. And I always look at it as: That’s a press conference. It’s a business situation. You’re supposed to handle it like a businessman, like a professional.”

While McGregor inspires in his custom-made David August suits, the athlete also loves luxury timepieces. McGregor explains, “Watches have always been something that just appeal to me. There’s something about having a really nice, quality watch on your wrist.”

Connecting the art of collecting watches to his time in the ring, he talks about the magic of wearing a new timepiece, adding, “Especially on my left wrist. When I feel the weight of it, I feel like…it takes you back to the caveman days, when you’d kill an animal and you would take something and put it around your neck as a symbol of what we have done. ‘We have conquered this.’”
McGregor elaborates, “When I have won a big fight and collect a big check, I’ll purchase a beautiful watch and I’ll put it on my left hand. My left hand that I have cracked on my opponent.
