If D&G’s latest collection is indicative of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s mood at the time that they decided the direction for their spring collection, it seems like they had a great western movie on the mind. Rugged light washed denim and rich brown leather were the main elements that gave the collection its feel, while wide upturned lapels and snug tailored waistcoats paid tribute to the old west. Not to bore, Dolce and Gabbana’s west includes cartoon-like denim carelessly sprawled across shirts and swimming trunks. Embellished shirts and jackets weaved in and out the collection amongst an array of boots continues the western theme, while a standout of the collection is the cleaver use of gradients on leather. Finally, if leather was not enough of an indulgence, the collection is complete with the inclusion of velvet jackets of black and brown, because frankly, nothing says spring like the luxury that is velvet.
