Sicily once again serves as the backdrop for Dolce & Gabbana as it presents one of two fall-winter 2020 campaigns. The town of Custonaci provides a rural atmosphere that reflects the theme of the season–artistic craftsmanship. It’s here that classic black and white photography captures the sartorial spirit of Dolce & Gabbana’s more traditional menswear. Francesco Finizio photographs model Amerigo Valenti for the advertisement, which finds its charm in reflections of “the past and the ancient artisan tradition” of Custonaci.

Dolce & Gabbana’s new advertising campaign calls on established imagery of the brand with Amerigo posing alongside locals. Finizio captures the Sicilian model in a mix of casual and formal statements for fall: “The custodians of Italian manual craftsmanship: the Mestieri d’Arte, ancient professions that guard the Italian cultural and manufacturing heritage, inspire the collection and become the protagonists of the shots in a succession of scenarios, faces, and views that transport the heart to the national folkloric past.”
