The New Basic–Taking basics and switching up the proportions, Duckie Brown designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver challenged conventional menswear once more with their spring/summer 2014 collection. Reinterpreted as a boxy shape with minimal detail, the polo shirt was a modest proposal before sleeveless numbers prompted a racy cut. Playing with proportions and colors to mimic the aprons worn by London fruit vendors, shape created a dramatic visual for the man of Duckie Brown. With that said, essentials such as the t-shirt and shorts played it safe but were kept modern with oversized silhouettes. Later incorporating stripes, a burlap brown and a lace-like print, Duckie Brown’s new stance on basics was spruced up with a smart sense of humor.
