Hailing from Thailand, designer Ek Thongprasert brings us a collection of controversial proportions. Thongprasert’s spring 2010 collection entitled “Meus Universitas” or My World is founded on the idea of firm believes without doubt. Inspired by Catholicism and the faux reality that boarding schools create, Thongprasert has crafted a collection that interjects the scholar’s uniform with details derived from the Vatican. A boyish charm is created by the collection’s cropped jackets, while embroidery and layering lend themselves to an old world appeal. As a final touch, the wooden rosary takes center stage as the accessory of the season, prompting one to ponder if religious subjects have a place in fashion or is it all just too risky?
