In one short season, Thailand-based label Shake Appeal has grown significantly in point of view, leaving behind a reliance on quirk, instead opting for a matured street appeal. The evolution of Shake Appeal is quite fitting taking into account this season’s vehicle of inspiration. The latest collection entitled “Darwin and the Beagle” is inspired by Charles Darwin’s 1831 journey on board the actual vessel. It is during this same journey that Darwin wrote “The Origins of Species.” Furthering the idea of Darwin as muse, Shake Appeal’s fall collection progresses from simple tees and pants to more aggressive nylon numbers that evoke the image of a hunt. From highly coordinated ensembles to the bare essentials, Shake Appeal is on point with the times and progressing at a wonderful rate.
