Adidas
Adidas is a German brand, which was founded in July 1924 by Adolf Dassler. It was originally known as Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik. Dassler registered Adidas on August 18, 1949 on the onset of a family feud with his older brother Rudolf, who founded Puma.
Adidas sets itself apart from competitors with its three parallel bars. Its 3-stripe logo was acquired from athletic footwear brand Karhu Sports in 1952.
The brand become known on a global stage with American sprinter Jesse Owens. He became the first African American to gain a sponsorship. Winning four gold medals, Owens’ success helped the Adidas brand and its identity in the sports world was born.
