If you’ve been keeping up with our editorial coverage, we’re just a tad obsessed with model newcomer George Culafic. The Serbian musician turned model has a little over a year modeling experience under his belt and is making waves with a retro charm that calls to mind icons such as Jim Morrison. We caught up with George to find out more about his background and that amazing hair!

How were you discovered?

I was discovered last year by my manager, Drea Vujovic at Drea Model Placement. She saw a picture of me online, contacted me, went to one of my gigs and signed me on the spot. Everything took off soon after that.

What’s your favorite gig so far?

My favorite modeling job was the Hilfiger Denim’s spring-summer 2015 campaign, which was shot in L.A. by photographer Josh Olins in the middle of the desert. Far from best actually, because it was my first trip to the U.S. As a little snot nose kid, my dream was to go there and succeed with my art in any way possible. Modeling is a good way for a person to get a glance of the possibilities that are yet to come.

What are your interests outside of modeling?

My real passion comes from composing music, shooting film photography and a good night’s sleep. Outside of modeling is a whole different persona that’s triggered only by how the world turns. My current job requires working out, eating healthy and having a number of hobbies just to be straight on the point with the job I’m in. The worst thing a model can possibly do is get lost in the see-through glamour.

What reactions have you received to your hair?

So far I’ve heard mostly good things about my hair. The words that are often thrown are “…ooh, you look like what’s his name, Jummy, John, no Jim Morrison, yes, that’s the guy…”, probably because of the 70s and early 80s look. It’s nice that it works in the industry, otherwise I would be somewhere in a music studio.

Is your hair naturally curly?
Yes, my hair is naturally curly… Wild and untamed, like a, like a… Grizzly Bear or something.

What’s your daily hair routine?

You’re never gonna believe it, but after I wash my hair I just blow-dry it.

How would you describe your personal style?

I like to think that it’s quite simple. Skinny jeans, a t-shirt, and some flannel on my shoulders is my look.

What inspires your style?

I just started modeling and traveling so I’m being exposed to so many things that are inspiring my style. Childhood and solitude are the two things that developed me and inspire me as a person. A part from those two things is a girl that I’ve been seeing for the past year. With her I’ve grown and in her I trust. Solitude is the best but I’m finding a way to squeeze in and make space for some company on my travels.
