Mr Porter highlights the new Fear of God for Ermenegildo Zegna collection with an interview feature. The men’s retailer talks to Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo and Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori for the occasion. Discussing the collaboration, Sartori explains that it “was very organic. We were not driven by a merchandising approach; we were driven by a point of view.”

While the Italian fashion house is known for its impeccably tailored suits, Fear of God brings a casualness to the partnership with its signature, laid-back LA attitude. “I wouldn’t say the collection is oversized; I’d say it’s generous, it’s effortless, it’s relaxed, it’s comfortable, but it’s highly considered and highly contemplated,” says Lorenzo. “It’s giving room in the right places to give the right emotion. But it’s definitely not an oversized fit that looks sloppy. I think ‘generous’ is a word that Alessandro has used in the past, and I’ve taken on in my vocabulary.”

Finding a balance to bringing the two brands together, Sartori says, “The way Jerry always treated his collections was very chic and sophisticated, from materials to colors and from shapes to the usage of details.” The artistic director elaborates, “So, we’re different garments, yes, but the approach was similar. That’s why it wasn’t difficult to work together.” Read more at MrPorter.com.
