The Great Outdoors–ASOS infuses their house brand with an adventurous spirit for the fall 2011 season. From elements of the modern military or rambling to the seafarer, ASOS looks to the active life for this season’s inspiration. Beginning with color blocking, twill trousers are mixed with sporty outerwear, dressed in vivid hues. Paired with bright bobble hats, fairisle knits and rucksacks, ASOS’ man is the perfect candidate for mountaineering, when he is not pursuing a militaristic motif. Armed with desert boots and a parka or two, casual pieces come together in army green, camouflage as well as washed burgundy. Rounding out a varied outing with a nautical flair, toggles and stripes convey a strong narrative set at sea. Rugged and fitted, crinkled suiting acts as the unexpected complement to washed denim and cable knits. Altogether, a mix of formal and casual aesthetics, fall’s lineup offers a fair share of staples infused with stylish inspiration means for an eclectic sensibility. / Florian van Bael photographed by Scott Trindle with styling by Luke Day.
