Fred Perry x Nigel Cabourn Spring-Summer 2015 Collaboration

Fred Perry joins creative forces with Nigel Cabourn for a new spring-summer 2015 collaboration. A fan of tennis and its history, Cabourn excitedly looks to the legacy of tennis player and designer Fred Perry. The lineup was also inspired by British-Hungarian table tennis player Victor Barna, who had collaborated with Perry on a sportswear range. A celebrated champion, Barna won forty medals between 1929 and 1954.

Discussing the new collaboration with Fred Perry, Cabourn shares, “Fred Perry is a brand that I think runs in some ways parallel to the Nigel Cabourn brand, both truly British brands inspired by British heritage and wherever possible manufacturing everything in the UK. I think a lot of Fred Perry and Nigel Cabour fans alike will be pleased we have finally come together on this collaboration.”

The collaboration includes references to 1950s styles as well as inspirations from the 1930s and 1970s. The collection utilizes pique cotton that was used on 1950s Fred Perry tennis styles. A Panelled 1952 Pique Shirt revisits the 1970s with a training vest from Nigel’s archives. Embracing relaxed silhouettes, the lineup of looks are modeled after the loose fit of Cabourn’s aesthetic and Fred Perry’s training garments of the early 1950s. Shoes also join the collection borrowing elements from a 1930s archive tennis shoe.

The Fred Perry x Nigel Cabourn collection is available at Fred Perry Laurel Wreath shops and online at FredPerry.com.
