Greg Lauren examined the hero archetype for fall, creating six vignettes that aimed to explore, question, celebrate and reinterpret classic notions of masculinity. Honing in on the nomad, artist, fighter, dandy and superhero, Lauren extended his vision with a presentation during New York Fashion Week: Men.
Staging a show centered around a boxing ring, the designer proposed that we are all fighting for something. For Lauren, this fight is a romanticized vision of menswear. A rugged sense of nostalgia is found in fabrics that appear worn, offering a second life to the designer’s layered narrative.
Here, elongated shirts captured the boundary pushing vision of artists, while draped ponchos reinforce the image of the nomad. From dandy three-piece suiting, updated with slouchy, tapered trousers to tattered gym-inspired threads for the fighter, Greg Lauren delivered a magical collection.
