Barneys New York is celebrating the return to its downtown location in Chelsea, New York in a big way. Launching a capsule collection with designer Greg Lauren, the luxury retailer connects with Gregg Sulkin. The 23 year-old actor is photographed by Lauren himself, modeling the designer’s exclusive Barneys capsule collection. Similar to Barneys’ iconic shopping bag, Lauren’s range includes all black fashions.

The designer explains, “I wanted to give myself the challenge of coming up with a capsule collection of pieces which all worked with each other… essentials which could be worn separately, or layered together, using one color as the unifying characteristic.” Lauren continues, “I also liked the challenge of paring it down to some my ‘basics’, in terms of silhouette, fabric, and color. ”
Drawing from his own personal experiences, he shares, “I got very inspired by the beauty of the tonal variations of the color black. As a painter, I was always amazed by how many different shades of black existed in paints and pigments… or how black is the type of color which can look and feel unique depending on the light, the angle from which you look at it, or simply the texture of the surface.”
