Sending his spring-summer 2017 men’s collection down the catwalk during Milan Fashion Week, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele achieved the magical balance between whimsical and wearable. On one hand, Michele took Gucci’s man East in silk coordinated two-pieces, but in the same lineup, the fashion house’s popular leather jackets were an easy sale.
Playing with the idea of eccentric menswear juxtaposed with timeless pieces, Gucci’s latest outing thrilled. A burst of colors and patterns defined the season with Michele enjoying an endearing moment with the convergence of Donald Duck and current trends such as the sweater vest. For every leather biker jacket or presentable sportcoat, Gucci poured on the charm with its all-over flower print suiting or a cheeky kimono-style jacket. Ultimately, the results included one of Michele’s strongest collections for the fashion house to date.
