It’s the same old same at Gucci. Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini’s latest collection offers the same Gucci we have become accustomed to; it’s in your face in that resort type of way, but easygoing at the same time with a passé use of color. Giannini’s use of white with hints of yellow and bursts of electric blue conjures up images of an early morning brunch at the beach or an afternoon at the hanger. Suits gravitate towards a metallic navy that are indicative of eveningwear, while a sheen selection of materials for outerwear appears at times far too bulky and heavy for spring, but befitting of athletic-inspired outerwear. The Gucci man might have some form of multiple personality syndrome, but somehow at the end of the day, it all works in a laissez faire sort of way.
