N
ot afraid of a little luster, fringe, and sheen, menswear designer Dimitri Stavrou made a splash at the London College of Fashion MA 2009 show. The Cyprus native, who now resides in London was inspired by the mythological term “Daemon”. The term describes “the ill doings of mankind and warriors.” Working within this framework, Stavrou worked with experimental fabrics such as Carbon Fibre to create a dark but daring collection. At times, the fringe is a little much, but in the beginning of a budding career, it is exciting to see the exploration of details in lieu of the dreaded conventional design box.
