Debuting this season is Bergen-based label Norwegian Rain. Based in one of Europe’s rainiest cities (it rains two out of three days), Norwegian Rain is the joint collaboration of graphic design studio Grandpeople, bespoke tailor/designer T-Michael and founder/creative director Alexander Helle. Motivated by the primary goals of staying dry and stylish, fall’s eco-friendly range was inspired by Japanese minimalism, Scandinavian functionalism and 6,050 days of Norwegian rain. Blending classic tailoring and technology for rain protection, Norwegian Rain has developed three-layer garments that include a highly water repellent outer shell, a waterproof breathable membrane and a satin lining to keep the technical aspects hidden from view. Finally a heat sealing film is applied to each seam to prevent water penetration. The result is a sleek modern coat that is accompanied by no worries of being caught out in the rain.
