Jack Spade Spring/Summer 2015-Jack Spade design director Todd Magill explores the nuances of color for spring 2015. Observing the way color transforms garments, whether it’s informing a sophisticated attitude or delivering a modest understatement, Magill approaches the collection similar to the work of minimalist painter Josef Albers. Working with color and its relationship to from one to the next or a pattern to its frame, Albers cleverly interweaved colors. The wardrobe of the Jack Spade man wisely mimics this idea and achieves a great mix of sport and classic American sportswear. Magill explains, “I see a lot of guys on the street mixing their sport gear with their work clothes. Ultimately, the collection is about ‘urban utility’ so you can look good in transitional moments, like when you are in between work and running to or from the gym and then out to meet friends.” Extending the theme of the man on the go, artist Ian Hundley contributes a navy grid print to the lineup for a special capsule selection of bags and apparel inspired by the streets of New York City.
