Drawn in with a piercing gaze, Philip Meech photographs the striking James Smith (Models 1) for the most recent edition of Ukraine’s Playing Fashion. Getting his hands dirty, James manages to shine through a less than desirable face of soot for an intriguing shoot styled by Hope Von Joel.

  1. I don’t know why, but this makes me think of World War 1 & 2. I think it’s the way his hair is, and of course the dirty face. Plus some of the clothing reminds me of that era. His eyes are haunting, too.
But I love it so much. So, so much.
