Everyday Floral–Not one to shy away from bold prints and bright colours, Katie Eary opened her fall/winter 2013 show with a dramatic burst of upscaled florals in neon fuchsia and purple. An eerie blue “lobster spaceship” print quickly followed on shirts and t-shirts. Eary’s signature fabric of silk bonded neoprene were made into sweat tops, double-breasted coats and biker jackets, while metallic chiffon shirts and trousers added a steely glint underneath graphic layering. In contrast there were oversized black mohair coats with leather biker sleeves and black low slung printed denim with eyelet and lacing details referencing 18th century corsets. A very upbeat explosion of colour and contrasting graphics in a menswear season dominated by shades of neutral and grey tones. / Words by KENNY HO
