Man’s Best Friend–The casual nature of his recent collaboration with denim label Lee must have really struck a chord with Kris Van Assche as the designer has arrived at a rather simple inspiration for his latest collection, the t-shirt. Tackling the ultimate wardrobe piece, which every man has, Van Assche reinterpreted the classic, pulling it in different directions, presenting relaxed tailoring and an urban draw. Instantly achieving a downtown cool, the t-shirt appeared layered with a long-sleeved shirt when in actually the sleeves zip off. Meanwhile, khakis were reinterpreted as jogging pants with elasticized ankles. The perfect complement to this season’s attitude, a new lineup with Lee prevailed as Van Assche mixed denim pieces with his white standard. Returning back to jackets and dress shirts, the t-shirt was used to dissect the norm with short white sleeves appearing layered over black. Juxtaposed with caps, windbreakers and parkas, Kris Van Assche presented a picture of a hip urbanite with the power to walk the sophisticated walk with sportswear in toll.
