Hero Worship–Combining the theme of spirituality and religion together with her unique urban aesthetic and bold heroic silhouettes of past season, Astrid Andersen returns to FashionEast/MAN for a second season with a strong and focus collection for spring/summer 2013. Playing with transparency and layering, silk organza were made into shorts and shirts layered over satin techno fabrics. Signature lace in black as well as near-neon brights transformed into leggings were shown underneath sports shorts and vests layered over t-shirts. Traditional church window panes inspired a serious palette of deep bordeaux, shades of black, pale yellow and verdigris green in metallic shot fabrics popped with bright orange and green. Graphic stained glass window prints adorned bomber jackets and embroidery on sheer organza vests resembled religious tattoos. Models were athletic in stature and walked barefooted, exploring the idea of the gym as a place of worship and playing with the irony of the catchphrase “Your Body is a Temple”. / Words by Kenny Ho, Fashionisto London Fashion Editor.
