Usually constrained to a presentation each fashion week, the Marni man took to the catwalk for the fall-winter 2016 edition of Milan Fashion Week. Marni creative director Consuelo Castiglioni upped the playful factor this season by injecting the collection with oversized silhouettes. Taking the brand’s minimal aesthetic in a raw direction that at times mirrored the unfinished, a careful balance of order and disorder took center stage.
Single-breasted coats signaled the collection’s key pieces with a narrative of volume executed with a modern precision. While Marni’s pencil-thin trousers were still a factor, billowing trousers made for a powerful visual. Offset by casual sneakers and nonchalant fur pieces, the Italian brand’s fall offering solidified a youthful stamp on traditional tailoring.
