Sizing Up Spring–Stonewashed denim was key fabric of Martine Rose’s spring/summer 2013 collection as almost every look featured oversized jeans with a dropped crotch, cinched at the waist. There were light blue chambray shirts to match as well as jean jackets with painted hand prints on the back. Brown snake-skin vinyl made into a slim-cut trouser added texture to an otherwise flat palette. Neoprene featured heavily in the collection in explosive bright orange and blue – as contrast panels on jeans, sleeves on denim jackets and shirts as well as long sleeve tops. A very strict and precise choice of fabrics and palette makes this a very concise collection with a retro 1980’s feel. / Words by Kenny Ho, Fashionisto London Fashion Editor.
