After a spring-summer 2016 collection inspired by Africa, Junya Watanabe couldn’t escape the thought of the outdoors. Approaching fall, men dressing to go out was the main inspiration. Models took to the catwalk in tailoring with a modern spin. Trousers were cropped or executed with a relaxed, baggy silhouettes. Lean coats boasted leather sleeves and the field jacket was reinterpreted in various textiles. Armed with denim jeans, suede jackets, chinos and other essentials, the man of Junya Watanabe fused his workerwear-inspired aesthetic with that of a formal gentleman, balancing sharp suiting and contemporary sportswear.
