Although cosmetic surgery is often attributed to women and the pressures of the beauty industry, studies show that men have an increased interest in hitting their doctor’s office. Actor Patrick Dempsey, who is 48 years old, has admitted to using botox as part of his beauty regime. Simon Cowell of American Idol fame has also confessed to using the procedure.

As noted by RealSelf, in today’s work environment, more years shown visibly on the face do not necessarily garner more respect. San Francisco cosmetic surgeon Seth Matarasso expressed that working men in Silicon Valley come in with the mindset, “Hey, I’m forty years old, and I have to get in front of a board of fresh-faced kids. I can’t look like I have a wife and two-point-five kids and a mortgage.”

RealSelf turned to its community of doctors to gather data and found a significant increase in male patients seeking cosmetic treatments. The survey showed that 72% of doctors reported a rise in male patients within the last year, and what’s more, these patients are getting younger.

Over 50% of new male patients are between the ages of 25 and 44 and are mainly interested in facial rejuvenation procedures such as brow lifts, eyelid surgery, and skin toning. As for body treatments, the most popular among men is CoolSculpting—a non-surgical fat removal technique that is cost-effective and has a shorter downtime than liposuction.

Cosmetic surgery is no longer solely a concern for women. Men increasingly use cosmetic procedures to enhance their appearance and compete in a work environment that values youthfulness. With 72% of doctors reporting a rise in male patients seeking cosmetic treatments, it’s clear that the trend is here to stay.

Additionally, the fact that younger men seek out these procedures indicates a growing acceptance of cosmetic surgery among younger generations. It will be interesting to see how this trend evolves in the coming years and how it will affect societal perceptions of beauty and aging.

For those interested in cosmetic surgery, it’s essential to do thorough research and choose the best cosmetic surgeons to ensure safe and effective results. You can start by checking the qualifications and credentials of potential surgeons and their experience in performing the specific procedure you’re interested in. Reading reviews and testimonials from previous patients can provide valuable insights into the surgeon’s skills and bedside manner.
