Fashion’s Dirty Secret–Shanghai is the new hot spot to showcase collections and captivate a new audience with labels, ranging from Burberry to Michael Kors throwing events in the Chinese city, but what about the models that are paid for their attendance? Style.com reports that in the last couple of days, over 60 international models have been taken into custody by Chinese authorities after working illegally under tourist visas instead of obtaining the correct Schengen or working permits. Beinjing police set up a sting operation under the cover of a casting at Chinese modeling agency M3. Several models were taken into custody and many will be deported.
