In an unexpected fashion, Neil Barrett pleases with his neutral-based spring collection of smart chic leather and well-crafted layered proportions. Set in a broad and boxy-set collection, below the knee shorts are a vision paired with the light-weight mackintosh that has been given a modern update with the stealthy use of vacuum-sealed leather. Color blocking accomplished at acute angles gives the commonly used applique a fresh look, while thin elongated shirts perfect for layering are a definite season must-have. Barrett’s use of a dark color palette perfectly frames his brocade prints in an interesting masculine fashion that is juxtaposed with an edgy elegance. All in all, Barrett’s distinct vision for the upcoming season is sure to translate into expanded editorial coverage and a well-deserved increase in demand.
