Let’s hear it for the men. WWD confirms that the Council of Fashion Designers of America is going ahead with plans to launch New York Fashion Week: Men. The first edition of the menswear event will be held this summer, July 13-16, 2015. It will be held at Skylight Clarkson Sq in SoHo and be sponsored by Amazon and its fashion sites: Amazon Fashion, East Dane and MyHabit. DreamWorks and Shinola will also throw in its support.
Brands, who will be participating in some form include Calvin Klein Collection, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Rag & Bone, Billy Reid, Todd Snyder, Michael Bastian, Ovadia & Sons, Public School, Robert Geller, Timo Weiland, Kent & Curwen and Patrik Ervell. It is hopeful that New York Fashion Week: Men can grow to be a quick success like London Collections: Men. CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb shares, “We’re not naïve enough to think that we’re going to create a huge, international mega men’s fashion week immediately. We know we have to build it from the ground up. But we’re going to do a good job, and we know we’ll be able to compete on a more global basis in the future.”
