The State of Dress–Nicole Farhi’s collaboration with British luxury underwear and basics brand Sunspel gave birth to a light-hearted collection where underwear meets outerwear with a slight hint of period uniform. Thin cotton henleys, tanks and undershirts teamed with gauzy shorts and trousers in a sun-bleached palette of chalk-white and pepper grey gave a sport feel to the collection together with the tone-on-tone tailoring in shades of blue, pebble stone and indigo. Cotton jumpsuits, pyjama shirts, lightweight coats and slim trousers with elasticized waists all had small textural prints, while short sleeve shirts and looser shorts were made from shiny raffia type fabric. Knitwear, inspired by the basket weaves of armchairs, had either textural flecks or a graphic grid effect. Quirky pieces included the quilted jacket from last season which was updated in terracotta and a short sleeve shirt made of thick white towelling. / Words by Kenny Ho, Fashionisto London Fashion Editor.
