In both the book and movie adaption of “The Rules of Attraction” by Bret Easton Ellis, a pivotal scene is when the lead character of Sean Bateman relates that “No one ever ever knows anyone.” To a certain extent, this quote best encompasses the idea behind Brian Wood’s latest collection “Night Stalkers.” It is human nature to not fully divulge everything, instead withholding parts of ourselves as an advantage. In this vein, Wood plays with the idea of “Night Stalkers”, taking a look at the dark side of human nature that is often concealed. Emphasizing the night, black is the main color of the collection, while rolled up sleeves reveal hidden splatters of blood. Most notably, a pair of eyes behind binoculars serves as the collection’s branding image and adds a certain quirkiness. Overall, this collection progresses Brian Wood’s tongue in cheek design nature, while remaining dedicated to great function and excellent construction.
